Giving thanks to God for all the good things we enjoyed in our lives is understandable and seems automatic for every Christians or not. In fact, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao after he won the title fight against Antonio Margarito rushed to his corner and give thanks to his god for the victory.
Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
I may agree in his automatic response of giving thanks for the good gift he just received.
Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
What I did want to see is for Antonio Margarito to rush to his corner and also give thanks to his god for his defeat.
Is losing not a perfect gift? Are we not obliged to give thanks in everything we received, whether good or bad?
1 Thess 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
It says, in everything so if we will not give thanks for the things we perceived as negative or bad, I may only say that we are ungrateful.
It is just a matter of trusting God in everything, whether good or bad.
