In computers, a routine self-inspections are held automatically for at least monthly. Such test is something we also performed on car care and maintenance, manufacturing operations including weapons of war.
Likewise, there was a provision in the Bible to examine ourselves whether we are still in the faith. I call it self-test.
2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye are reprobates?
The Scripture quote a story of a man who possesses an evil eye.
Mat 20:1-15 For the kingdom of heaven is like to a man that is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith to them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatever is right, that shall ye receive. So when evening was come, the lord of the vineyard saith to his steward, Call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last to the first. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should receive more; and they likewise received every man a penny. And when they had received it, they murmured against the master of the house. Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden and heat of the day. But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penny? Take that which is thine, and depart: I will give to this last, even as to thee. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? is thy eye evil because I am good?
The eye that can not see the goodness of the giver is the one with an evil eye. Such were some of us whether in between siblings, between employees, between workers, between businesses, between branches of government and between political leaders.
Heb 13:5 Let your manner of life be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Perform your own self-test and examine the eye. So that when you feel discontented and began to envy others, kill that sin before it starts to kill you.
Prov 28:22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
And to share or partake on what he has is forbidden.
Prov 23:6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainties:
Prov 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
