Grandson

The Philippine Constitution states that the molding of the character of the child start at the home. Consequently, every member of the family should strive to make the home a wholesome and harmonious place as its atmosphere and conditions will greatly influence the child’s development.

Every child has the right to a wholesome family life that will provide him with love, care and understanding, guidance and counseling, and moral and material security and has the right to be brought up in an atmosphere of morality and rectitude for the enrichment and the strengthening of his character.

Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

My grandson slept in the chest but I have yet to sing a song. At the age of two years and four months, he can’t pronounce a single word like mama or papa but amazingly can hum the song with a wordless tone with mouth completely closed. The lyric is in Ilocano which means: My hands are so little and holds so little but I offer it for you Lord to serve you. My feet are so little and walks so little but I offer it for you Lord to serve you.

Toy imak babassit da, Bassit ti petpet da. Ngem idaton ko Apo, Agsirbi ken ka.

Toy sakak babassit da, Bassit ti pagna da. Ngem idaton ko Apo, Agsirbi ken ka.

The Scripture is so true as far as my grandson is concern.

Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

The grown up child was commanded to honor the parents with a promise of a long life.

Eph 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

Eph 6:3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

But when he commits iniquity, hit him with a rod with the intent of instilling self discipline and not to kill.

2 Samuel 7:14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.

Even Paul threatens the wicked members of the Church of God with a rod in his letter to the Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 4:21 What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

Though the hitting of the rod is allowed, the word of God is still the best solution to every problem in this life.

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Prov 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Jer 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
