Our Father

Jesus Christ taught us how to pray. He cited one prayer that teaches us the manner on how one should pray to God the father.

Before sleeping, waking up, grace before meal, going to School, taking the exam, job interview, I always pray the our father every time I feel like praying. I mistakenly perceived this prayer as a universal or as in a medicine, a generic drug.

Mt 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Mt 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Mt 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Mt 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Mt 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

In our prayer, we do not make use of the same words again and again on the presumption that God will give more attention because of the number of repetitious words.

Mt 6:8 Therefore be ye not like them: for your Father knoweth what things ye need before ye ask him.

Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

The rich need not request, “give us this day our daily bread” for they can have bread as many as they wish.

When Judas Iscariot transgressed by betraying Jesus Christ, the apostles need to ordain one more apostle to replace Judas. Their prayer goes out in this manner.

Acts 1:23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

Acts 1:24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show which of these two thou hast chosen,

Acts 1:25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

There are other prayers made by the apostles found in the Bible not praying the pre-made prayer of the “our father”.

2 Cor 13:7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we should be as reprobates.

2 Thess 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

2 Thess 1:12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer therefore comes in a manner asking for anything that we want or actually need.

Lk 11:9 And I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you.

Lk 11:10 For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, the door shall be opened.

Lk 11:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he shall ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

Lk 11:12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

Lk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

In like manner, don’t ask for food when you actually need a job. I simply mean, be specific. Don’t pray the “our father” when you want really is the safety and recovery of a wife or a child who is undergoing a surgery. Do not even pray the Hail Mary unless you want to tell a story because it is a story telling not a prayer. There is only one mediator between God and men.

1 Tim 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Mary is still dead and will rise only on the second coming of Christ.

Jn 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Jn 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Jn 14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

What’s the use of Jesus Christ coming back when Mary and all the Apostles are already in heaven. It doesn’t make sense!

Jn 3:13 And no man hath ascended to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man who is in heaven.

Jn 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Jn 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
