Little Children

One requirement for a man to enter the kingdom of heaven is to become as little children.

Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

But there is also a Christian doctrine not to be like children for they are easily deceived.

Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

For every child is unskilled in the word of righteousness.

Hebrew 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

So what is in the child that we should imitate? Is it because when they fight they tend to forget it after a while and become playful again? What is the concrete basis that we can cite to justify that claim?

Matthew 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

1 Corinthians 14:20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

There you are brothers and sisters, humility in a child that sometimes the grown ups doesn’t have. We tend to boast of something we accomplished and belittling the unskilled not on our level.

Philippians 2:3 doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;

1 Corinthian 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

To be like children therefore doesn’t mean that we think and speak like a child. It means humility and without malice that the little children always have. COOCHIE COOCHIE COO!
