Dead Sin

Reading the below verse, led me to believe that sins are commited outside and not inside the body of a man.

1 Cor 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

But preceding verse proved otherwise. A mere stare coupled with a lust contemplated in ones mind makes any man committed a sin though not physically performed or put into action.

Matt 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

While the latter verse speaks of the body of man, the former refers to another body where Jesus Christ is the head of the said Church.

Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Eph 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

1 Cor 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

The Church that can never be defeated by the gates of hell.

Matt 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

As long as the words of God are kept in our hearts, the sin remain sprawled at the door, dead. Rebelling against the word, is welcoming the sin alive and active and the gates of hell will open widely towards eternal punishment. The way chosen by Cain to walked through when he slew his brother Abel.

Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee [shall be] his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Truly, the gates of hell cannot prevail over the Church of God because of its immunity from sin, so every sin that a man doeth is without the body of the Church.

1 Cor 15:57 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

As a member of the body of Christ, we must present our body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God.

2 Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

As a member of the body of Christ, we never pray for sin whose punishment is death or even bother to make a request.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

To our brothers then committing sins not unto death, they should repent and turn to God, and do good works showing repentance.

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Remember that sin, as personified in the scripture, is just there by the door – waiting for you.
